Shadow President ( German : Schattenpräsident ) is a geopolitical simulation by the US software company DC True , Ltd. for DOS from 1993.
Introduction and plot
The game puts the player in the role of the President of the United States . The action takes place in the early 1990s and includes, among other things, the Second Gulf War and the civil war in Somalia . The aim of the game is to deal with the political events and to secure the votes of the electorate .
Non-English language versions were not published. The sequel to the game is Cyber Judas .
Shadow President comes with the CIA World Factbook 1990.
Game flow
The player interacts with the game world via 2D graphics and receives 7 advisors at his side at the beginning, who are supposed to facilitate the entry into the game.
The aim of the game is to be re-elected by the people and to be able to rule for another 4 years. The player has to manage the US budget and establish diplomatic relations. This makes it possible to provide military, intelligence , social and technical assistance to other countries and to handle crises. Furthermore, waging wars is an inevitable aspect of the game. The player can also restrict trade with countries and apply global sanctions through the UN . It is also possible for the player to support rebels through the CIA and to initiate coups .
