Shahar Mozes ( Hebrew שחר מוזס) is an Israeli mathematician. He is a professor at the Einstein Institute of the Hebrew University in Jerusalem .

Mozes received his doctorate in 1991 from the Hebrew University under Hillel Fürstenberg ( Actions of Cartan Subgroups ). In 1993 he became Senior Lecturer , 1996 Associate Professor and 2002 Professor at the Hebrew University.

Mozes deals with Lie groups and discrete subgroups of Lie groups, geometric group theory, ergodic theory and aperiodic tiling . He has published with Elon Lindenstrauss , Jean Bourgain , Alex Eskin and Gregory Margulis , among others .

In 2000 he received the Erdős Prize . In 1998 he was invited speaker at the International Congress of Mathematicians in Berlin ( Products of trees, lattices and simple groups ).
