The Shahkangshan (or Shar Kangsum or Xiakangjian ) is the highest mountain in the mountain range of the same name in the Tibet Autonomous Region .
The Shahkangshan is located in the highlands of Tibet . It has a height of 6822 m . The mountain is located in the extreme southeast of Gêrzê County in the Ngari administrative district . The mountain lies in the northern section of a 40 km long glaciated mountain range, which extends in a north-south direction. The Loinbo Kangri is located about 212 km south-southwest of the Shahkangshan. The regional capital Lhasa is east-southeast at a distance of 615 km.
Ascent history
The Shahkangshan has not yet been climbed. A British expedition was in the mountain range in August 2005, but broke off an attempt to climb it due to excessive avalanche danger.
