from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Shang period bronzes from Xingan ( Chinese  新 干 商代 铜器 群 , Pinyin Xīngān Shāngdài tóngqì qún ) are on the Gan River in Xingan in the Chinese province of Jiangxi in a tomb from the time of the Shang Dynasty . Bronzes discovered at the archaeological site Dayangzhou in Dayangzhou ( 大洋洲 ) in Xingan County, Jiangxi Province, China . The grave is dated to the 12th century BC. Dated.

The site was excavated in 1989. Hundreds of bronze and jade objects were discovered, which provide interesting information about the bronze and sepulchral culture of the aristocratic class of the Yangtze Valley during the Shang Dynasty . 1,361 relics were unearthed: bronzes, pottery, stone ware and jade, including 475 ritual bronzes (over half of the ding vessel type ). The Ding vessels from Xingan roughly correspond to those of the late Zhengzhou-Erligang period (cf. Erligang culture ).

Most of the artifacts are housed in the Jiangxi Provincial Museum.
