The Shani Peak (also known as Khaltar Peak ) is a 5887 m (according to other sources 5885 m ) high mountain south of the Naltar Pass in the Gilgit District in Pakistan .
location
It lies in the west of the Snow Dome ( 5029 m ) and in the northwest of the Mehrbani Peak ( 5639 m ). On its eastern flank is the Shani Glacier , which extends into the Naltar Pass.
Ascent history
A first ascent of Shani Peak in 1986 over the west ridge is documented in the Himalaya Index . On August 14, 1986, Guy Muhlemann and Roger D. Everett, members of a Scottish expedition, reached the summit.
