The Sharks were an English rock band that existed from 1972 to 1974.

Band history

Andy Fraser founded the Sharks in November 1972 after his final departure from Free . The original band members were Fraser (bass, piano), Chris Spedding (guitar), Snips (vocals) and Marty Simon (drums). They got a record deal with Island Records , where Free was also under contract.

At the beginning of 1973 they went on tour in Great Britain with their “Sharkmobile”, an old Cadillac with a grille shaped like a shark's bite. On February 19, they had an accident in which Fraser injured his hand.

Their first album, First Water , was released in April 1973. A little later, Fraser left the band and was replaced by Busta Cherry Jones on bass. In addition was keyboardist Nick Judd (ex-Audience) was added.

In September 1973 they went on tour again in Great Britain. In March 1974 her second album Jab It came out in Yore Eye . After a US tour, the Sharks made recordings for their third album Music Breakout in mid-1974 , but their record company declined to release it. After a few staff changes, the group disbanded in October 1974.

In 1993 Spedding and Snips got back together and recorded the album Like a Black Van Parked on a Dark Curve as Sharks ... which was not released until 1995. In 2011 they released the album Force 9 as King Mob .
