Eugenijus Bartulis
Eugenijus Bartulis (born December 7, 1949 in Kaunas , Lithuania ) is a Lithuanian Catholic clergyman. He is the first bishop of the Šiauliai diocese founded in 1997 , military bishop of Lithuania and an honorary citizen of Šiauliai .
Life
Eugenijus was the youngest of ten children. In 1968 he graduated from the 7th Kaunas Middle School and from 1968 to 1970 he served in the Soviet Army . He studied at the Kaunas Seminary from 1971 to 1976 and was ordained a priest on May 30, 1976. From 1989 he was administrator of Dom Kaunas and from 1990 Curia Chancellor of the Archdiocese of Kaunas . In 1995 he was a teacher at the seminary in Kaunas and from 1996 at Regens . On May 28, 1997 he was appointed Bishop of Šiauliai by the Pope and ordained bishop on June 29 by Sigitas Tamkevičius , Archbishop of Kaunas . Co- consecrators were Audrys Juozas Bačkis , Archbishop of Vilnius , and Vladas Michelevicius , Titular Bishop of Thapsus and Auxiliary Bishop in Kaunas. From 2000 he was military bishop of Lithuania for ten years .
He was a council member of the University of Šiauliai .
