Vladas Michelevičius

Vladislovas Michelevičius (born June 8, 1924 in Kačiūniškė , Wolost Raudondvaris , now Kaunas Rajongemeinde ; † November 12, 2008 in Kaunas ) was a Lithuanian clergyman, auxiliary bishop in Kaunas and Vilkaviškis of the Roman Catholic Church in Lithuania .

Life

Vladas Michelevičius spent his childhood in the village of Čičinai of Wolost Jonava , Kaunas district . His parents bought a field here and then decided to settle there. He studied in the Laikiškiai elementary schools near Kulva and Rimkai near Jonava (now the Rajongemeinde Jonava ). From 1937 to 1944 Michelevičius graduated from the Kaunas Jesuit grammar school in the then Lithuanian capital Kaunas . Vladas Michelevičius was ordained a priest on October 31, 1948 for the Archdiocese of Kaunas .

In 1986 Michelevičius was appointed titular bishop of Thapsus by Pope John Paul II and was appointed auxiliary bishop in the Archdiocese of Kaunas and in the Diocese of Vilkaviškis . He was ordained bishop on December 7, 1986, by Bishop Liudas Povilonis , Apostolic Administrator in Vilkaviškis; Co- consecrators were the administrator in Kaišiadorys and later Archbishop of Kaunas, Vincentas Sladkevičius , and Antanas Vaičius , Bishop of Telšiai .

From 1968 to 1996 taught at Michelevičius Kaunas Priest Seminary , the rain he was from 1989 to 1990.

In 1989 he resigned from the office of auxiliary bishop in Vilkaviškis, but remained auxiliary bishop for Kaunas and was appointed vicar general. John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation from the office of auxiliary bishop in Kaunas in 1999.
