Sharon Stanis

Sharon Stanis (* in Cleveland / Ohio ) is an American violinist and music teacher .

Stanis was a student of Linda and David Cerone , Gary Kosloski , Henryk Kowalski and Peter Salaff . She studied at Indiana University with Rostislav Dubinsky , where she received her bachelor's and master's degrees. She played with the Renaissance City Chamber Players and founded the Lafayette Quartet with Ann Elliott-Goldschmid , Joanna Hood and Pamela Highbaugh Aloni , with which she recorded seven CDs.

She is also a member of the Galiano Ensemble and the Aventa Ensemble , has appeared as a soloist with the Victoria Symphony Orchestra and the Palm Court Orchestra , and has been concertmaster at the Victoria Symphony Orchestra summer festivals . With Gary Karr she performed Giovanni Bottesini's Grand Duo at the Basses Reloaded IV festival . In addition to albums with the Lafayette Quartet, she recorded Murray Adaskin's Second Violin Sonata John Mills-Cockell's Concerto of Deliverance and the soundtrack for Criminal Acts by Tobin Stokes on CD.

Stanis has also taught at Oakland University and The Institute of Music and Dance in Detroit, as well as music history at Indiana University, served as a juror at music festivals, and given master classes in the United States and Canada. As Artist in Residence , she teaches violin and chamber music at the University of Victoria .
