Sharp is an impact crater to the northwest of the lunar front . It is located northeast of the Mairan crater and southwest of Harpalus , west of the Montes Jura and Sinus Iridum mountain ranges .
Between Sharp and Sharp A , an unnamed moon groove runs in a north-westerly direction. The Rima Sharp , named after the crater, continues to the west in the Mare Frigoris in a north-south direction.

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the English astronomer and mathematician Abraham Sharp .
