Shauna Mullin (born September 11, 1984 in Johannesburg ) is a British beach volleyball and former Scottish volleyball player .
Career
As the daughter of a hotelier , Mullin lived in different countries as a child. Ten years after she was born in South Africa, she and her family moved to Penang , Malaysia , where she played volleyball for the first time. In 1999 she came to Edinburgh . She continued to play volleyball in Scotland and was a member of the Scottish national team from 2003 to 2006 . In 2003 she took part in the World University Games with the team.
In 2006 Mullin moved to Bath and switched from the hall to the sand. In 2007 she completed her first international beach tournaments with Zara Dampney . In 2008 she temporarily formed a duo with Denise Johns , who at the end of the year reached 17th place in three open tournaments. In 2009 Mullin played again with Dampney and completed her first Grand Slams. At the Kristiansand Open, Mullin / Dampney came in ninth in the top ten of an FIVB tournament for the first time. In 2010, 17th place in Shanghai was the best result for the British duo.
In the following year, Mullin / Dampney made it into the main round at the World Cup in Rome as third of their preliminary round group. There they were defeated in the first game by the later finalists Walsh / May-Treanor from the USA. In 2012 they received the host's starting place for the Olympic tournament in London . In front of a home crowd they defeated the Canadian duo Lessard / Martin in the first group game , but remained without a set win in the other two games and in the lucky loser round. After the tournament, Mullin ended her career.
