The Shaw Nunatak is a 500 m high nunatak in the north of the West Antarctic Alexander I Island . It rises from the Nichols snowfield .
Aerial photographs of the American Ronne Antarctic Research Expedition (1947-1948) were used by the British geographer Derek Searle from the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey in 1960 for mapping. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 1977 after the geodesist Colin Shaw (1944–1978) of the British Antarctic Survey , who was active on Alexander I Island from 1975 to 1976.
