The Shell Cup 2000/01 was the 30th staging of the National List-A cricket - Championship in New Zealand . The competition was held between December 1, 2000 and January 28, 2001 between the six New Zealand first-class teams. In the final series, the Central Districts Stags were able to prevail against the Canterbury Wizards with 2–1 wins.

format

The six teams play in a group twice against the other teams. There are two points for a win, one for a draw or no result and no point for a loss. Furthermore, it is possible that teams are deducted points if, for example, they play too slowly. The second and third placed in the preliminary round play a semi-final, the winners of which determine the winner of the tournament against the first in the preliminary round in a final series according to the best-of-three mode .
