Shelley Moore

Shelley Moore (born March 10, 1932 in England - † June 23, 2016 ) was a British-American jazz singer .

life and career

Moore appeared at the beginning of her career in nightclubs, played EPs and singles such as Portrait of Shelley and The Koool Kanary for various British labels and had appearances on radio and television; She also toured continental Europe, Israel and the United States. In 1961 she moved to the USA and recorded for the Chess Argo label. Her accompanists included Ramsey Lewis , Eddie Harris , Plas Johnson , John Collins , Eldee Young and Redd Holt , who contributed to their album For the First Time (1961). With her wedding to the American Ken Golden, Moore ended what music critic Bill Kohlhaase said was a "promising career" and devoted herself to her family before appearing again in the Los Angeles and Orange County area from 1986 . Her repertoire consisted of jazz standards , songs from the Great American Songbook and her own compositions. In 1995 she recorded the album Moore Moods .
