The Sheppard Crater is a 200 m high volcanic crater on the Hut Point Peninsula in the southwest of the Antarctic Ross Island . It rises 1.3 km east of Castle Rock .
The New Zealand Geographic Board named him in 2000 after the librarian Deirdre Jeanette Sheppard, who worked in this capacity from 1980 to 1996 for the New Zealand Antarctic Research Program and had worked in a campaign at the Vanda station .
