Sherrifo Konteh

Sherrifo Konteh (* 1971 or 1974 in Brikama , Gambia) is a musician and Jali from Gambia . He plays the West African instrument Kora , a 21-string bridge harp.

As the youngest son of Alhaji Bai Konte and half-brother of Dembo Konte , he learned to play a kora at the age of six from his father until his father's death when Sherrifo was twelve years old. His uncle Lamin Ngom also taught him. He began his professional career as a solo musician in various hotels, where he played at evening events for tourists. Later he joined the eight-member band "Roots Manding", then the "Kangbeng Band".

In 2004 and 2005 he toured, including the United Kingdom .
