Shilingxia

Shilingxia (Shílǐngxià yízhǐ 石岭 下 遗址 Shilingxia site) is a Neolithic site of the Yangshao culture and the Majiayao culture on the upper reaches of the Huang He (Yellow River) in China. It was discovered in 1947 in Shilingxia Village石岭 下 村, Chengguan 城关 镇 Township of Wushan, Gansu Province, China , and has been dated from −3900 to −3200. The site was examined several times between 1957–1962 by the Gansu Provincial Museum .

In the site, the layer of the Majiayao type of the Majiayao culture was discovered below and the layer of the Miaodigou type of the Yangshao culture above , with a layer of a transitional culture in between. The culture of the relics of the transitional culture seems to be closer to the majiayao type, e.g. B. the patterns and ornaments of certain pottery are similar to the majiayao type. At the same time, there are also some cultural elements that are very similar to the Miaodigou type, such as: B. certain geometric shapes in ceramics with colored decoration. That is why it is called the Shilingxia type or the Shilingxia type of the Majiayao culture . The Shilingxia type carries on cultural elements of the Miaodigou type and also carries majiayao type cultural components in itself. Its stage of development corresponds to the early stage of the Majiayao culture. This type of site is common in the upper reaches of the Wei He渭河River .
