Shin'ichi Tanaka ( Japanese 田中 信 一 , Tanaka Shin'ichi ; * May 15, 1959 ) is a former Japanese ski jumper .

On January 12, 1980, he jumped for the first time in the ski jumping World Cup . In his first competition in Sapporo , he reached ninth place and thus won his first World Cup points. In the following years he jumped regularly in the Four Hills Tournament , but remained unsuccessful. It was not until January 1987 that he again reached places in the top ten in Sapporo and landed on 4th and 5th place. It was the highest ranking in his career. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1987 in Oberstdorf , Tanaka reached 57th place on the normal hill and 55th place on the large hill. After the World Cup he also reached the Finnish Lahti and Swedish Falun points World Cup and finished the 1986-87 season in 26th place in the overall World Cup standings.

At the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary Tanaka reached 52nd place on the normal hill and 47th place on the large hill. In team jumping he was only eleventh and last together with Katsushi Tao ( 田尾 克 史 ), Masaru Nagaoka ( 長 岡 勝 ) and Akira Satō ( 佐藤 晃 ).

Almost two years after the Games, Tanaka took part again in a World Cup competition in Sapporo in December 1989 , before ending his active ski jumping career.
