The Shinnan Rocks ( Japanese 新 南岩 Shinnan-iwa , German 'Neue Südfelsen' , Norwegian Nyheia 'Neuhöhen' ) are rocky outcrops on the Crown Prince Olav Coast at the eastern end of Queen Maud Land . They are on the western flank of the Shinnan Glacier .
Surveys and aerial photographs of a Japanese Antarctic expedition that lasted from 1957 to 1962 were used to map them. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names transferred the Japanese name in 1964 in a partial translation into English.
