Avion Travel , entirely Piccola Orchestra Avion Travel , is an Italian pop and jazz band from Caserta , founded in 1980.

Band history

The "small orchestra" Avion Travel began as a rock band and in 1987 won a rock music competition in Sanremo . At the beginning of the 90s, the group changed genre and released Bellosguardo as the first album of this new phase . As a result, she received a recording contract with Caterina Casellis Sugar Music . In 1993 the album Opplà was released there , which was a great success with the critics and encouraged the band to intensify live activity. With Finalmente fiori (1995), the chart entered the chart for the first time.

After this trilogy of albums, the musicians broke away from the song form and in 1995 presented a mini-opera with La guerra vista dalla luna in collaboration with Fabrizio Bentivoglio . After a tour of the Italian theaters, the CD for the work was released in 1996. The group also wrote the soundtrack for the film Hotel Paura by Renato De Maria . In the following years she intensified both her concert activities and cooperation with film and theater. The live album Vivo di canzoni was released in 1997, followed by an international tour that took her to France, Portugal, Luxembourg and Germany.

At the Sanremo Festival in 1998 Avion Travel presented Dormi e sogna and was awarded the Critics' Prize and the Prize for the best arrangement. For the next album, Cirano , which was released in 1999, the band worked with producer Arto Lindsay . In the same year, the musicians worked again with Fabrizio Bentivoglio for his first short film Tipota . In 2000 the band returned to Sanremo and won this time with the song Sentimento . She then published the compilation Selezione 1990-2000 and the cover album Storie d'amore at the end of the year .

The next album Poco mossi gli altri bacini was released in 2003, followed in 2007 by the album Danson metropoli , dedicated to Paolo Conte , which reached number three in the charts. A similar project, this time dedicated to Nino Rota , was published in 2009. For this, the band was awarded the Targa Tenco in 2010 .
