Shinrō Ōtake

Shinrō Ōtake ( Japanese 大竹 伸 朗 , Ōtake Shinrō ; born October 8, 1955 in Tokyo ) is a Japanese painter . He lives and works in Uwajima , on Shikoku Island .

life and work

Shinrō Ōtake studied at the Musashino Art School in Kodaira , Tokyo Prefecture , where he graduated in 1980. Ōtake writes, makes architecture projects , assemblages , collages and noise music . In 2009, Ohtake created a functional bathhouse for the Benesse Art Site in Naoshima.

In 2012 Shinrō Ōtake took part in dOCUMENTA (13) in Kassel and showed Mon Cheri: A Self-Portrait as a Scrapped Shed . Ohtake created since 1977 over 60 scrapbooks , Mixed Media - artists' books , some of which 2,013 on the Biennale di Venezia were shown. The Scrapbook # 66 from the years 2010-12, for example, has the dimensions 72 × 96 × 129 cm, 27.2 kg heavy and contains 830 pages.
