Shirley Somervell
Shirley Somervell (married Barber; born June 30, 1946 ) is a former New Zealand middle and long distance runner and sprinter .
At the British Commonwealth Games in Christchurch in 1974, she was seventh in the 800 m , where she set up her personal best with 2: 04.63 min, and fifth in the 4-by-400-meter relay .
In 1977 she came in 88th place at the World Cross Country Championships in Düsseldorf .
Her daughter Alana Barber is successful as a walker.
