Shizuishan ( Chinese 石嘴山 市 , Pinyin Shízuǐshān Shì ) is a district-free city on the west bank of the Yellow River in the Ningxia Autonomous Region of the Hui nationality in the People's Republic of China . Shizuishan's administrative area occupies the entire northern tip of the autonomous region. It borders the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region to the west, north and east and the Yinchuan , the capital of Ningxia, to the south.
The city was founded on January 7, 1960 and is known for its mining (coal).
Administrative structure
At the county level, Shizuishan is made up of two boroughs and one county. These are:
- Dawukou district (大 武 口 区), 1,007 km², 230,000 inhabitants, center, seat of the city government;
- Huinong District (惠 农 区), 1,088 km², 200,000 inhabitants;
- Pingluo district (平罗县), 2,608 km², 290,000 inhabitants, main town: Chengguan municipality (城关 镇).
