Zhongwei
Zhongwei ( Chinese 中卫 , Pinyin Zhōngwèi ) is a city in the Ningxia Autonomous Region in the People's Republic of China with approximately 1.14 million inhabitants (end of 2015) on an area of 17,448 km². In the actual urban settlement area of Zhongwei 160,279 people live (2010 census).
Administrative structure
The prefecture-level city of Zhongwei consists of a district and two counties. These are:
- Shapotou district - 沙坡头 区Shāpōtóu Qū ;
- Circle Zhongning -中宁县Zhongning Xiàn ;
- District Haiyuan -海原县Hǎiyuán Xiàn .
Infrastructure
Zhongwei Shapotou Airport , which opened in 2008, is 9 kilometers northwest of the city .
Others
The Zhaobishan Copper Mine ( Zhaobi shan tongkuang yizhi ), an ancient copper mine from the Han Dynasty , is located on the city's territory. It has been on the list of monuments of the People's Republic of China (6-215) since 2006 .
