Shlemon Warduni

Shlemon Warduni (born April 24, 1943 in Batnaya , Iraq ) is auxiliary bishop in Baghdad and was briefly Apostolic Administrator and Patriarchal Vicar for the Chaldean Catholic Church .

Auxiliary bishop

He joined in 1954 the seminary and was after studying theology , pedagogy and social sciences in Baghdad and Rome on 29 June 1968 priests ordained. On January 12, 2001 Warduni was appointed Curia Bishop and on February 16, 2001 by Raphael I. Bidawid , the Patriarch of Babylon of the Chaldean Catholic Church, he was ordained titular Bishop of Anbar dei Caldei . Co- consecrators were the Chaldean Archbishop of Kirkuk , André Sana , and the Chaldean Bishop of Alquosh , Abdul-Ahad Sana . At the same time Warduni took over the role of auxiliary bishop of Babylon of the Chaldeans .

Patriarchal Vicar

When Raphael I Bidawid , Patriarch of Babylon the Chaldeans, died on July 7, 2003 , no immediate successor could be chosen. But since there should be no vacancy in the succession , Bishop Shlemon Warduni was appointed Patriarchal Vicar of Babylon the Chaldeans. With the election of Emmanuel III. Delly a Patriarch on December 3, 2003, also ended the office of Apostolic Administrator of Baghdad.
