Shoe Island ( Māori : Motuhoa ) is a small island in the Bay of Plenty in the Waikato regionoff the North Island of New Zealand .
geography
The island is located in the Pacific off the east coast of the Coromandel Peninsula , about 2.5 km east of Tairua and 3.5 km northeast of Pauanui .
The archipelago of The Aldermen Islands is located about 15 km to the east, the island Slipper Iceland about 6 km south-east.
