Shōichi Toganoo

Shōichi Toganoo ( Japanese 栂 野 尾 昌 一 , Toganoo Shōichi ; * 1947 in Toyama Prefecture ) is a former Japanese badminton player .

Career

Shōichi Toganoo won silver at the Asian Games in men's doubles with Junji Honma in 1970 . In the same year he won his first title at the Japanese National Championships. In 1974 he won the Canadian Open and was third in the All England. In 1981 he won his last Japanese championship with his wife Etsuko Toganoo .

In the 1980s, he took over as coach of the Yonex badminton team , and at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, he coached the Japanese national team.
