The Shortcut Col (English for abbreviation saddle ) is a broad and more than 460 m (according to the UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee about 650 m ) high mountain pass in the north of Graham Land on the Antarctic Peninsula . On the Trinity Peninsula, it lies between Mount Hornsby in the north and Mount Brading, towering south . It represents the connection between the Larsen Inlet in the southwest over the Sjögren Glacier and the Sjögren Inlet to the Prince Gustav Canal in the northeast.
The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it because it is an abbreviation for the comparatively longer route over the Longing Gap .
