The Shugseb Monastery ( Tib . : shug gseb dgon pa ) was founded by Gyergom Tshälthrim Sengge ( gyer sgom tshul khrims seng ge ; 1144–1204), a disciple of Phagdru Dorje Gyelpo ( phag gru rdo rje rgyal po ), in the iron cattle - Year of the 3rd Sixty Year Cycle (1181) founded in the Nyephu area. The monastery is located in the district of Qüxü (Chushur) in the district-free city of Lhasa in Tibet at an altitude of 4100 m.

The religious tradition that spread from this place was called Shugseb-Kagyu ( shug gseb bka 'brgyud ). Gyergom Tshälthrim Sengge's students placed great emphasis on studying the teachings of the Shiche ( zhi byed ) tradition, which is why they were also referred to by some as Shichepa ( zhi byed pa ), i.e. H. Followers of the Shiche school, considered.

The monastery is now a Nyingmapa nunnery .
