Shuguang Zhang

Shuguang Zhang is an American biophysicist of Chinese descent and recipient of the Wilhelm Exner Medal .

Life

Shuguang Zhang studied biochemistry at Sichuan University in Chengdu . In 1988 he received his PhD from the University of California , Santa Barbara , USA . He is now a professor at the Center for Biomedical Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology .

Act

Shuguang Zhang discovered a group of peptides which spontaneously organize into aggregates and networks under physiological conditions. For this discovery he received numerous recognitions and awards. Zhang also acts as a consultant to numerous companies around the world. His own company 3D Matrix developed numerous products for tissue regeneration, wound healing and nerve regeneration. Shuguang Zhang founded another company NZ3i for the utilization of peptide nanostructures , which has positioned itself on the market as a supplier for the cosmetics and pharmaceuticals industries.
