The Shushica [ ʃuʃiʦa ] ( Albanian  also  Shushicë [ ʃuʃiʦə ]) or Lum / -ii Vlorës is a river in southern Albania . It rises in the hinterland of the Albanian Riviera and flows about 80 kilometers northwards parallel to the coast of the Ionian Sea and the Adriatic Sea through the Qark Vlora .

Due to the geological conditions of the area ( karst landscape ), the river tends to seep over large sections of the upper reaches. The hydronym Shushica comes from the Old Slavic сухъ / suhă or Bulgarian сух / suh ("arid, dry") with a suffix . The name means something like “the dry one” or “the dry river”, as the water flow is unsteady due to the undercurrents in the karst . The water flow is only continuous after the snow has melted and after heavy rain.

The agricultural use of the river valley through arable farming is very intensive and begins at the upper reaches. There are currently three bridges along the river; they are located on the lower reaches of the towns of Peshkëpia , Drashovica and Kota , otherwise fords are used to cross the river.

The Shushica flows into the Vjosa around 15 kilometers north of the southern Albanian port city of Vlora, not far from Selenica .
