Shyron Quonell Ely (born July 16, 1987 in Washington, Pennsylvania ) is an American basketball player .

career

Ely was a member of the basketball team at Speedway High School in the US state of Indianapolis , from 2005 to 2009 he was on the team at the University of Evansville in the first NCAA division. Ely played 121 games for Evansville during this time, in which he averaged 11.8 points and 4.5 rebounds. His statistically best season was also his last at university level: In the 2008/09 game year he was always in the starting line-up in 31 missions and averaged 18.9 points and 5.8 rebounds per encounter.

Ely took the first steps of his professional career in the NBA D-League in his home country. In the 2010/11 season he won the championship with Iowa Energy . In 2012 he moved to BC Boncourt in the Swiss National League . In the 2013/14 season he was in the service of the German second division USC Heidelberg and was named one of the best players in the league by the basketball service eurobasket.com after the end of the season. His good performance in Germany earned him a contract with the French first division club Le Mans Sarthe Basket , which he signed at the end of July 2014. He played 33 league games for Le Mans, was on the grid 14 times and averaged 7.6 points per mission.

In October 2015 Ely returned to Heidelberg, but stayed only a few weeks and joined the Bundesliga club Crailsheim Merlins that same month . He played 26 Bundesliga games for Crailsheim in the 2015/16 season and averaged 10.0 points, as well as 3 rebounds and 2.2 assists per match.

After the end of the 2015/16 season, Ely was initially without a club for a few months before he was signed again by the Heidelberg team in January 2017. In the 2017/18 season, Ely was the eighth best scorer in the 2nd Bundesliga ProA with an average of 15.1 points per game . Also in the 2018/19 game year he achieved excellent values ​​for the Heidelberg team, was the team's best thrower with 16.5 points per match and thus contributed to reaching the semi-finals. There Ely was eliminated with the USC against Nuremberg. Because of a fatigue fracture of the kneecap, he had to undergo an operation in early January 2020.
