Si * Sé is an American downbeat / trip-hop band from New York City . The band was founded in 2000 by singer Carol C and DJ UF Low (Cliff Cristofaro) and later expanded by several members. In addition to the founding members, Tarrah Reynolds ( violin ), Jeannie Oliver ( viola ), Neil Ochoa ( percussion ), Ryan Farley ( drums ) and Morgan Phillips ( bass ) join the band today .

Carol C and Cliff Cristofaro met in early 2000 through their mutual friend and later manager, Hector Batista. After experimenting musically for a few months and recording a demo tape, they decided to supplement the electro sounds with real instruments and to found a band together with musician friends. The sound of Si * Sé can be described as downbeat electro with borrowings from hip-hop and Latin , the main element of which is the voice of singer Carol C, who sings in both English and Spanish. After initially playing in various New York clubs, Luaka Bop Records became aware of Si * Sé, whereupon their first album Si * Sé was released in 2001 . After a long break, their second album, More Shine , was released in 2005 after switching to Fuerte Records .
