The Sibbald Range is a mountain range in the Canterbury region of the South Island of New Zealand .
geography
The Sibbald Range is located between the Godley River in the west and the Macaulay River and the Two Thumb Range in the east. In the north the mountain ranges border on the glacier region of Mount D'Archiac and in the south on the confluence of the Macaulay River in the Godley River .
The mountain range, which is around 25 km long and runs in a north-south direction, finds its highest point in Mount Sibbald at 2811 m . 36 other peaks of the mountain range are over 2000 m .
Administratively, the Sibbald Range belongs to the Mackenzie District .
Conservation Park
Except for the southern tip, the Sibbald Range with the Two Thumb Range adjoining to the east is part of the Te Kahui Kaupeka Conservation Park , which is administered by the Department of Conservation .
