The Godley River is a mountain river in the New Zealand Alps . It belongs to the Canterbury region on the South Island of New Zealand .

geography

The Godley River has its origin in the glacial lake of Godley Glacier , between the southwest flank of the Alps and the Sibbald Range in the east. Initially designed as a single stream, it flows into the shared glacial lake of the Gray Glacier and Maud Glacier , then after the inflow from the glacial lake of the Classen Glacier , it increasingly branches downstream and after a total of 37 km in a widely branched, two-kilometer-wide delta to flow the Lake Tekapo .
