Substitute Brigade 204 (also Brigade 204 ) was set up in Wehrkreis XVII in early June 1941 as part of the 16th wave of deployment .

So-called Backup Brigade 204

Shortly after the formation, the replacement brigade to take over security tasks (the replacement brigade was no longer formally renamed to the security brigade and later to the security division ) was relocated to the east, first to the general government , then to the Baltic region. At the end of 1941 the brigade surrendered a large part of the battalions to Army Group North and renamed the remaining troops to Oberfeldkommandantur 394 (OFK 394, Riga ) at the end of April 1942 . In contrast to the Backup Brigade 201 and 203, the brigade never achieved division status .
