Military District XVII (Vienna)
The Wehrkreis XVII (Vienna) was a territorial administrative unit of the Wehrmacht during the time of the National Socialist German Empire . The military district was formed after the so-called "Anschluss" of Austria in 1938 and existed until 1945. It was responsible for the military security of the areas of Lower Austria , Upper Austria and parts of Burgenland as well as the provision and training of parts of the army in this area. The military district included the two replacement districts Vienna and Linz . The headquarters were in Vienna.
