The backup brigade 201 was a German infantry brigade of the Army in World War II of Army Group Center .

Brigade history

The brigade was set up on February 5, 1942 in Belarus from the replacement brigade 201 .

Replacement Brigade 201

The replacement brigade 201 (also brigade 201 ) was in Fulda in mid-1941 in military district IX. set up in the course of the 16th wave of installation . It was assigned as an occupying force to the General Government with stationing in Krakow . At the end of 1941, three marching battalions were detached from the brigade for Army Group North , the staff were subordinated to Army Group Center and relocated to Russia in the rear army area with headquarters in Belarus .

Backup Brigade 201

During the establishment as security brigade 201 in February 1942 in Belarus , several state rifle battalions were added to the large formation . As early as June 1, 1942, the staff of the brigade was raised to division strength and renamed the 201st Security Division .
