Sid Smith (boxer)

Sid Smith (* 2. February 1889 in Bermondsey , England ; † 18th April 1948 ) was a British boxer in the flyweight .

Professional career

In 1907 he successfully began his professional career. On April 11, 1913 he boxed against Eugene Criqui for the universal world championship and won by unanimous decision of the judges. He was also the first universal world champion in this weight class . However, he lost this belt in his first title defense in June of the same year to Bill Ladbury by knockout.

In 1919 he ended his career.
