Sidsel Storm

Sidsel Storm (born November 20, 1982 ) is a Danish jazz musician ( vocals , composition ).

Act

Storm began training in 2002 at Rytmiske Højskole on Zealand. Since 2003 she has been studying vocal music in the preparatory music course in Copenhagen. She took part in the jazz meeting Brandbjerg Jazzstævne 2003/2004. From 2004 she worked in the electro-pop band Next to Beluga and was also involved in their album Out of Place . In the field of jazz she founded her own jazz band quintet at the same time, with which she performed at jazz festivals in Denmark. Since 2011 she has worked with her own quartet, with which she became known in Europe, North America and Asia.

In 2008 Storm was awarded the Young Jazz Composer of the Year award by the Danske Populær Autorer authors' association . Her debut album of the same name won the 2009 Danish Vocal Jazz Release of the Year award at the annual Danish Music Awards . Since then she has released three more albums under her own name; with her last album Closer (2016) she “occupied a niche that wasn't a few decades ago: mainstream jazz and swing without modernist experiments and other bells and whistles.” Storm is married to the pianist Peter Otto, with whom she also composes, and three Has children.
