description

The village church of St. Nikolai was built around 1148 as a small chapel . It is essentially a medieval church with a choir tower . In 1605 the tower was rebuilt. By 1661, the building was expanded into today's hall church . At the nave a modern were north morgue and to the west a porch attached . On the north side of the tower there is a medieval, groin-vaulted extension for the sacristy . The choir has a star vault . The choir is separated from the nave by a pointed triumphal arch .

The nave is covered with a gable roof with dormer windows . The interior is spanned by a pointed arch, wooden barrel vault. The galleries are two-story. The pulpit , dated 1604, is decorated with fittings . The baptismal font dates from the 16th century. A former arched door was bricked up except for the upper area, which is now designed as a window. The south side has three ogival windows. On the first floor of the tower are the pointed arched windows of the choir, on the first floor there are only small windows, on the second floor there are large rectangular windows. The top of the tower forms a hood on which a lantern is placed, which is crowned with a gold-colored tower ball and a wrought-iron weather vane. In 1969 the church tower had a new slate covering and the tower clock was repaired.

The organ with 13 registers , divided into 2 manuals and pedal , was built in 1857 by Johann Friedrich Schulze . Because of the size of the organ was a reconstruction of the church necessary.
