Andrea Schorta

Andrea Schorta (born April 2, 1905 in Zernez , † December 12, 1990 in Chur ) was a Swiss Romance philologist .

Life

Andrea Schorta attended the teachers' seminar in Chur and later studied Romance philology in Zurich , Paris and Siena . He received his doctorate with the dissertation Phonology of the dialect of Müstair . From 1924 he worked with Robert von Planta on the Rhaetian Name Book, and from 1933 to 1939 he was secretary of the Lia Rumantscha .

In 1935 Andrea Schorta became an editor at Dicziunari Rumantsch Grischun . He worked on this dictionary project with his predecessor Chasper Pult until 1975, at times as editor-in-chief. He was also involved in the publication of the legal sources of the Canton of Graubünden .

The Leopold Franzens University Innsbruck and the University of Bern awarded Andrea Schorta an honorary doctorate.
