The Siegerlandhalle has been an event center in the North Rhine-Westphalian city of Siegen that has existed since 1961 . Within a radius of almost 40 kilometers, it is the largest facility of its kind for meetings, congresses, concerts, exhibitions and celebrations.

history

The Siegerlandhalle building complex is located southwest of downtown Siegen on an area known as Eintracht . In the 1850s, the Siegen benefactor and industrialist Leonhard Gläser acquired this parcel to create a public park, a zoological garden, sports facilities and other leisure facilities. Glasses transferred the area with the facilities to a foundation in 1868 ; the city of Siegen received the foundation mandate.

The centerpiece with the foyer and the later so-called Great Hall was built from 1959 to 1961 on the Eintracht site on the edge of Siegen city center, in the immediate vicinity of a feeder road to the 45 federal motorway . The Siegerlandhalle was officially opened on March 15, 1961. At that time, it was one of the ten largest hall complexes in the Federal Republic of Germany. After the completion of what is now the Great Hall, the event center has been steadily enlarged by further building parts and since then has consisted of ten halls and a complete catering area including a hotel. The usable area is around 5,000 m².

Between the end of June 2006 and the beginning of August 2007 the foyer and the large hall were modernized and expanded. Since the completion of the construction work, 2,400 seats and 4,300 standing places have been available in the Great Hall. The foyer was enlarged by 1,000 m². The costs amounted to around 8.5 million euros.
