Siegfried Danzke

Siegfried Danzke (* 1938 ) is a former German basketball player .

Life

Danzke played soccer before he came into contact with basketball in Halle in 1954 . In 1958 he moved to Chemie Halle, with whom he was twice GDR champion and was represented in the European Cup. From 1959 he also played international games for the selection of the German Democratic Republic , took part in the European championship tournaments in 1959, 1961 and 1963 as well as in the 1964 Olympic qualification tournament. In 1961 he was awarded the title “ Master of Sports ”. Danzke, who  studied sports in Karl-Marx-Stadt and later moved to Berlin , was still playing basketball at SSV Lokomotive Bernau when he was 80 years old . After participating in the best German games in the age group 65+ in Bernau in April 2018, he retired from active basketball.
