Siegfried I. (Walbeck)

Siegfried I. von Walbeck († March 15, 990 ) was Count von Walbeck and in Möckerngau .

Life

Siegfried was a son of Lothar II von Walbeck and Mathilde von Arneburg. He was first mentioned in 972 when he fought against Mieszko I of Poland at the battle of Zehden at the side of Odo , Margrave of Lusatia .

979 he received the county Möckerngau Emperor with his brothers Otto II. 983 he took in Cologne at the funeral of his brother Liutar part. In the autumn of the same year he fought against Slavic associations in the course of the Slav uprising on Tangier .

In 990 he fought under Empress Theophanou against Boleslav II of Bohemia . Then he moved against the rebellious Lutizen in the direction of Brandenburg . He fell from his horse and died on March 15, 990.
