Siegfried Joachim Meyer (born July 17, 1751 in Greifswald ; † January 28, 1833 ) was a German lawyer and mayor of Greifswald.

Life

The son of the businessman Ernst Christian Meyer attended the Greifswald city school and then studied law at the universities of Greifswald and Jena . From 1773 he worked as a practicing lawyer in Greifswald. In 1777 he was accepted into the magistrate . For fifteen years he was an assessor at the City Court and director of the Orphan Court. For several years he headed the city treasury. From 1782 he was registered as trustee at the Wismar Upper Tribunal . In 1788 he was second in a sideline , from 1795 to 1801 first city syndikus . From 1796 to 1817 he was an assessor for the Royal College of Health.

Siegfried Joachim Meyer was elected Mayor of Greifswald on February 7, 1798. In 1799 the Swedish government awarded him the title and rank of royal district administrator . In 1817 he received an honorary doctorate from the University of Greifswald. He held the office of mayor until 1831. He was a member of the magistrate until 1836.

Meyer was married. His wife and several of their children died before him. One of his daughters married the anatomist and pathologist Prof. Dr. Karl Asmund Rudolphi .
