Siegfried Lorenz (sports scientist)

Siegfried Lorenz is a German sports scientist and university lecturer .

Life

Lorenz studied at the German University for Physical Culture Leipzig (DHfK) in Leipzig , he graduated in 1962, the subject of his diploma thesis was “The service in the society for sport and technology. A component of the patriotic upbringing of our young learners using the example of the Neugersdorf vocational school ”. In 1965 his doctoral thesis was accepted at the DHfK, it was entitled “On the Skill Development of Diagonal Steps in 10 to 12 Year Old Boys. A contribution to the basic training in the Nordic ski disciplines on the basis of cinematographic motion analysis ”.

From 1972 to 1975 he was head of the winter sports science department, from 1975 to 1989 he was director of Section III. He presented his dissertation B (“The training structure as an essential subject of the theory and methodology of sports training - a theoretical study”) in 1978 at the DHfK. On September 1, 1980, Lorenz became a full professor for theory and methodology of training in winter sports.

Lorenz dealt with sports science in particular with skiing and was among other things co-author of the books "Skilanglauf" (1967, together with Fritz Reichert ), "Skilager der Deutschen Hochschule für Körperkultur - Handbuch für die Skilehrer" (1973), "Skilager der Deutschen Hochschule für Physical culture - information for course participants ”(1973) and“ Skilauf - Schülersport ”(1975, together with G. Großmann). In addition, in articles for the magazine “Theory and Practice of Competitive Sports”, he evaluated the results of children's and youth spartakiads in the sports of special jumping and Nordic combined.

Lorenz contributed the chapters “Responsibility and tasks of the sections” (together with Erhard Schumann) and “Basic and special training in winter sports” to the book “German University for Physical Culture Leipzig 1950–1990”, which was published in 2007.
