Athletic career

Offrem began his football career as a defender before World War II . He returned from the war with paralyzed legs. Through intensive training, he recovered enough to be able to play sports again. In 1950 he was accepted as a replacement for the goalkeeper Fritz Blumert, who had emigrated to Germany, in the top division team of Mechanik Gera . On November 19, 1950 Offrem was in the league match on the 14th match day Mechanik Gera - Eisenhüttenwerk Thale (1: 2) for the first time in the Gera goal. He then played in all major league games until the end of the season and made 22 appearances in his first league season. In the 36-game season 1951/52, in which Gera competed as BSG Motor, Offrem only missed one point game. After the 1952/53 season, the Gera, renamed BSG Wismut again, rose from the league. Offrem was also a regular goalkeeper this season, having played 30 of the 32 league games played. Until 1960 he remained goalkeeper at Wismut Gera in the second-rate GDR league . From 1954 to 1956 he was a regular goalkeeper with 67 appearances in a total of 78 point games. In 1960 (four missions) he was finally replaced by Manfred Grimm and ended his career as a goalkeeper after this season. He could look back on 87 first division and 106 second division games. Then Offrem was a coach at the fourth-rate district division VfB Pößneck . With him he rose after the 1961/62 season in the district class and then did not return to higher-class football.
