Wolf Eiermann

Frank Wolf Eiermann (* 1960 in Schwäbisch Hall ) is a German art historian and museum director .

life and work

After graduating from high school in Stuttgart in 1980, Eiermann studied law and economics at the University of Bayreuth from 1982 to 1986 . In 1986 he switched to studying art history and classical and Christian archeology at the University of Erlangen . From 1992 to 1995, Eiermann was a research assistant at Bernhard Rupprecht's chair at the Erlangen Institute for Art History. His master's thesis, completed in 1992, dealt with the “Nuremberg Mahler Academy in the Baroque”. In 1995 he received his doctorate magna cum laude from Rupprecht on a topic relating to the building program for Franconian residences .

From 1996 to 1998 Eiermann worked in the private sector before moving to the Staatsgalerie Stuttgart as an art historian in 1999 . As the responsible curator, he was in charge of the museum's art archives , including the Oskar Schlemmer archive , the archive of the Adolf Hölzel Foundation and the Domberger Collection . In addition, he was the building consultant of the State Gallery, as well as responsible for the voluntary museum work.

In 2015 he was appointed director of the Georg Schäfer Museum in Schweinfurt . Eiermann is editor and author of numerous works on art from the 17th to 19th centuries.
