Siegfried Schriml

Siegfried Schriml (born March 14, 1927 in Gleiritsch ; † September 11, 2016 ) was a German artist .

After graduating from high school in Weiden in 1947 , he attended a private art school in Munich until 1948. From 1948 he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich . In 1952 he passed the State Examination in Art and in 1953 the State Examination in Education for artistic teaching at secondary schools.

He then taught art education at the Zwiesel high school until his retirement in 1989. After that, he became a freelance artist and member of the Deggendorf artist group.

Schriml worked with a wide variety of materials and processes. He created paintings, drawings, prints , woodcuts , screen prints , enamel works , reliefs , ceramics , sculptures and was active in the field of layout and design . He took part in numerous exhibitions and himself directed the art exhibition "Zwieseler Buntspecht" for decades.

Several of his works are on public display in Zwiesel, including the raftsman monument on the Luitpold Bridge, the shepherd's fountain in the city park, the flower fountain on the sculpture path and the concrete relief at the grammar school. He also designed the chancel of the branch church and the Stormberger fountain in the Rabenstein district.

In Regen are his Pichelsteiner fountain, the fountain in the rose garden of the spa park and a fountain sculpture in nickel silver. In Bodenmais , he created an ensemble of sculptures in front of the town hall and the miner's figure in a hotel. The village fountain in Gotteszell was also created by Siegfried Schriml.
